What does the colored ring mean?

A colored ring around someone's face on Home means they posted something you haven't seen yet.

The faces at the top of Home, two of them with a colored ring.
  1. Tap the face to see that person's posts, by day. New ones are marked New.
  2. When you go back, the ring is gone.
  3. No ring means nothing new from them.

Faces with something new come first.
